56th Barraba Young Woman
2024 Barraba Show Young Woman Maddison Taylor & 2024 Runner Up Kaitlyn Smith
The Young Woman Competition aims to find a young female between 18-25 years of age to be an Ambassador for Barraba and the agricultural show movement. The winning Showgirl of each local Show Society is selected by a panel of three judges and remains the Young Woman until the next year’s Show. Her role involves many official and informal duties locally such as public speaking throughout the year and presenting prizes for winners in agricultural events.
The competition is not a beauty paegent. Entrants are judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, community involvement, presentation and speech. In addition to their potential ambassadorial qualities, contestants are also judged on their genuine interest in rural NSW and their involvement in their local community.
Today, the Young Woman Competition continues to find young rural women with purpose and ambition and the Competition plays a significant role in the overall development of rural youth, attracting strong support from entrants, sponsors and organizers.
