Barraba Sports Shear and Wool Handling Competition

The event unfolded as are sounding success, drawing more than 80 competitors eager to prove their mettle in both the Wool Handling and Shearing components.

Against the backdrop of Barraba's agricultural tapestry, these experts displayed their prowess, deftly shearing and processing premium Merino sheep wool with precision and speed.
With thanks to the RASF Foundation Grant, a purpose-built facility emerged to host this thrilling spectacle, a testament to the Barraba community's commitment to advancing the skills of shearers and wool handlers. Constructed specifically for the Sports Shear and Wool Handling Competition, the facility also stands as a beacon for ongoing training, ensuring that the artistry of shearing and wool handling continues to thrive beyond the exhilarating moments of the annual Barraba Show. The 2024 competition kicks off during the annual Barraba Show from the 1st-3rd of March 2024 with two days of competition being run. Join us on the 2nd of March for the Merino Sports Shear and Wool Handling and Sunday for the Cross Bred Sports Shear and Wool Handling competition.
